Kent Indoor Athletics Championships

Last weekend saw three of our Folkestone Running Club athletes compete in the Kent Indoor Championship at Lee Valley.

In the U15 Boys, Victor Redman competed in the 200m and 60m. On Saturday he progressed through the heats of the 200m to win the gold in the final, by a massive margin of over 1.2 seconds! He followed that up on Sunday with another gold in the 60m. Again, his time of 7.27 was a huge 0.53 seconds faster that the competitor in second place!

It was a packed weekend for Hannah St Claire, who competed in four events in the U17 Girls across track and field disciplines – 800m, high jump, long jump and shot put. Although it is her first year in this age group, she podiumed in two events, winning a silver in the 800m (2.33.09) and a bronze in the high jump (1.60m). She also bagged indoor PBs for three of the events.

In the U20 Men, Tommy Owler lined up in the U20 400m final on Sunday against a very competitive field. Tommy not only won the race with an extremely strong run over 2 laps of the indoor track, but also achieved a new indoor personal best of 49.5 for the season.

Congratulations to Victor, Hannah and Tommy.
