Kent Athletics Championships at Bromley
In last weekend’s Kent Athletics Championships at Bromley.
Folkestone's athletes all competed brilliantly throughout the weekend.
Victor Redman had a great weekend winning two Gold Medals.
The 14 year old sprinter won Gold in the 100m and 200m and broke the both the Kent under 15 boys 100m (in 11.16) and 200m ( in 22.8) champion best performance records!
The equivalent in the u15 girls/women’s are held by Daryl Neita (100m) and Dina Asher Smith (200m), both are currently GB athletes!
These times make him 2nd in the uk for 100m and equal 2nd for 200m!
Tommy Owler ran a season’s best in the u20 men’s 400m (49.09) and came 2nd for silver, despite having been ill during the week and having to miss training sessions.
The Athlete that won Gold in the 400m is now a GB Junior athlete, a target that Tommy also is close to.
Hannah St Clare a budding multi-eventer won bronze in high jump, equalling her pb of 1.60m, she also gained pb’s in long jump (4.58) and hurdles (13.10) with another year in this age group the future looks bright.
Jenny Clayton smashed her pb in the u17 girls 300 hurdles (50.36) and did a seasons best in 800m (2.30.29).
Emma Clayton went under 5 min in u17 girls 1500m (4.59.91).
Lilly-Ella Gore u17 did seasons bests in 100m (14.23) and 300m (49.75)
Also competing in their first year in the u15’s were u15 boy Thomas Webb, who competed in hurdles (12.97), 200m (26.58) 800m(2.26) shot putt (8.90)and javelin (35.24), gaining pbs or seasons bests in all.
Lily Rockall competed in hurdles (13.19) making the final, her long jump pb is now (4.20).
U15 girls Abigail Smith did all the throws hammer (19.76), shot (7.64), discus (14.51) and javelin (22.75).
These and other athletes cannot wait to get onto their new track!
In the U15 Boys, Victor Redman competed in the 200m and 60m. On Saturday he progressed through the heats of the 200m to win the gold in the final, by a massive margin of over 1.2 seconds! He followed that up on Sunday with another gold in the 60m. Again, his time of 7.27 was a huge 0.53 seconds faster that the competitor in second place!
It was a packed weekend for Hannah St Claire, who competed in four events in the U17 Girls across track and field disciplines – 800m, high jump, long jump and shot put. Although it is her first year in this age group, she podiumed in two events, winning a silver in the 800m (2.33.09) and a bronze in the high jump (1.60m). She also bagged indoor PBs for three of the events.
In the U20 Men, Tommy Owler lined up in the U20 400m final on Sunday against a very competitive field. Tommy not only won the race with an extremely strong run over 2 laps of the indoor track, but also achieved a new indoor personal best of 49.5 for the season.
